Ungkapan "All for One and One for All," atau "Semua untuk satu dan satu untuk semua," ini populer dari novel karya Alexandre Dumas, "The Three Musketeers" atau "Les Trois Mousquetaires." Cerita tentang seorang ksatria, D’Artagnan dengan tiga prajurit (musketeer) yang setia padanya, Athos, Porthos dan Aramis.

Mengambil setting Prancis pada 1625, Dumas menerbitkan cerita ini pertamakali pada 1844. D’Artagnan adalah sesorang bangsawan Gascony yang datang ke kota besar untuk menjadi musketeer. Namun karena kehilangan surat rekomendasi, ia gagal mewujudkan keinginannya tersebut dan malah berteman dengan tiga perwira militer Athos, Porthos dan Aramis.

Dengan dibantu ketiga musketeer, D’Artagnan terlibat petualangan yang melibatkan kalangan kerajaan Prancis, bangsawan Inggris mau pun kardinal de Richelieu. Kita semua tahu akhir cerita "The Three Musketeers" ini. Tiga musketeer kemudian pensiun dan hanya D’Artagnan yang melanjutkan karir militernya menjadi perwira.
